Gluten Free Cookies & John Wayne

Hello! Last night I got to make Jesse some home made gluten free (GF) organic chocolate chip cookies accompanied by a hot cup of organic green tea. It was the most perfect addition to our night, and we loved every second of it!  First, we made some Indian food, took a stroll around the neighborhood and then came home and baked some cookies, we then put on an old western, The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance! John Wayne is one of our favorite movie actors and since we have been on an old movie streak the past few month's we thought this movie would be great and it was! If you haven't seen it go and get it!
Anyways, back to my cookies, I have this cook book called The Allergen-Free Baker's Handbook by Cybele Pascal, it's super helpful if you have ANY kind of food allergy. I have a low tolerance for wheat and gluten so any cook book with yummy GF recipes is great! There are many different GF flour options out there; here's a link for some suggestions as many of the GF flour have varying flavors and taste, try them all out and use what you like best! Last night I used Bob's Red Mill GF flower, Bob's Red Mill has tons of different GF product & recipes and can be found at most health food stores even Ralphs! Here's the Bob's Red Mill Recipe for chocolate chip cookies, It's pretty good but I would definitely recommend getting the Allergen-Free hand book! In honor of Easter, here is a link for some GF candy.

Oh! I almost forgot here's a helpful hint for those who don't bake often but crave a sweet treat every now and again: if you notice in the first photo I have ball's of dough wrapped in saran wrap. so what you do is take the left over dough roll them up into individual balls & wrap each on of them up and place them in the freezer so when you have a craving take 1 or 2 out, pop them in the oven and you have a baked treat in 10 minutes!

I hope you enjoyed this quick, brief blurb from my perspective.

Old Hollywood, Classic Looks, Great Era----Glamorous

When I watch old movies I day dream about what it would be like to live in those glamorous days of dinners at swanky restaurants all dolled up in our best clothes along side a suite clad husband, sipping champagne and conversing with friends. For some reason everything back then seemed simpler, safer, and beautiful. Even though today we have certain styles that are specific to our era it still seems like their is still so much diversity, everyone has a certain style specific to them. I loved the style back them, everyone seemed to be classy and everyone would dress up to go out, the men and women would wear nice suits even during the day to go to work Like Mad Men! (Mad Men is definitely one of my favorites!) People nowadays wear p.j.'s & sweat's outside! No one should wear pajamas outside and sweats are definitely border line.

Love Louis Brooks, definitely a classic beauty! The husband and I love her, without Jesse I wouldn't even have know who she was, definitely inspiring style wise, not to mention her silent movies! I need to watch more of those!

I especially love the architecture and decor of that era as well, I feel like people were more concerned about making a building or interior classic and beautiful instead of just creating cookie cutter home and buildings. Nothing freaks me out more than suburban track homes that look the same. I want to be more adventurous, see different things, do different things and take advantage of where we live! There are so many free things to do when your strapped for cash and you can sign up for places that offer coupons for different restaurants, museums and parks.  Here are some references: Groupon, Living Social, check your local library-sometimes they have free events in your area, The Getty, flea markets are fun, that's all I can think of right now...Let me know if you have any other fun ideas! I'm always looking for fun free and cheap stuff to do!

This photo of Bette Davis is Radical and so I just had to share it! Her hair, her make up and I just die over that leopard piece of clothing! I'm thinking I really need some new lipstick and a new dress, Check out this long dress and  the orange lipstick to match!

TYPEFACE WEDNESDAY---that was supposed to be on tuesday.

Lately Ive been obsessed with the more classic forms of TYPE, I feel
like they're way more simplistic and clean. I don't know what
it is but I've been wanting to keep things a lot more simple
lately...I am even contemplating re-painting my living room and going
with a more modern look, the simple but elegant vibe just feels less
chaotic right now (maybe a future post/Dunstan home
remodel?). Anyways, less is more and I feel like these few types are
exactly what inspire me right now, it's funny literally up until maybe
two year's ago I thought a font was just a font, no big deal, but little did
I know different font's a.k.a. typefaces have a history dating back to
forever ago! I'm just learning and wanted to share these ones with you
and hope you like them also! Oh and if your sick of what's in your library
check out www.dafont.com, free fonts!

Have a good day!

no beard, coachella, dating fun!

I love reminiscing about the times when Jesse and I first started dating! Sitting by the lake watching the duckies, taking walks, sharing chap-stick, seeing bears in the wild, discovering new coffee shops, etc.! SO FUN! One of our funnest memories was going to Coachella, we had NO money at all but we were still having a blast sort of wishing we had some cash for some junk food or something fun. Then as as we were roaming around the huge field along with thousands of other people $15.00 starts to blow by my feet, it was so exciting to find that money, things like that rarely happen to us! We couldn't believe it! It was small example of how much God cares for us by blessing us with that $15.00! It was a super great night! Below are some fun photos from back in the day when we were dating and went to Coachella!

FIND...

For those of you who don't already know this about Jesse and I, We are avid estate salers and occasional garage sale goers. We have found some pretty promising treasures on our adventures and LOVE when we discover new things! It's the best when you find something that's super cheap but worth a lot! The best ones are the estate sales orchestrated by the home owners, family members of the home owners friends because they don't usually know what they are selling. Their are a few companies who do this who skim through the items first, take what they want and leave the junk for customers. Or sometimes antique stores will come in and snag ALL the antiques it's very frustrating!

Anyways here are a few helpful hints to finding some good estate sales...

-Sign up for estate sale websites so you get alerted when their is something happening in your area. Click here to check one out.
-Scope out Craig's list.
-Drive through your neighborhood and see any signs that are posted.
-The penny saver is one of my favorites, it usually arrives in your mail box on Wednesdays, most estate sales start on Thursdays!
-Usually companies who conduct estate sales will have a sign up sheet to alert you of any new sales in your area, SO SIGN UP!

This is all I can think of so far but if you have any other ideas please share them!

*here is a helpful hint when estate saleing (i know this isn't technically a word but it's how I say it): check out the sale the day it starts or Friday because normally ALL items will be on sale the last day of the sale since the people doing the sale usually wants to get rid of everything as soon as possible. The downside to this is that you are risking loosing the item. Feelin' lucky?

I'll be attending some good ones this weekend and am super excited to share my finds!!!

{trials, sparrows, memories}

Sometimes it seems as though EVERYTHING goes wrong at the same time, if feels like maybe you see NO end in sight, despondent and not sure what the future holds. God knew that Job was a faithful servant and would still praise Him if all his earthly possessions were to be taken away along with his family and this continued up until he was even physically afflicted. Sometimes it's easier said than done, sometimes you just want to know why these things are happening, what is the purpose of these irritating circumstances? Some times we never figure it out, sometimes times it's to help others, sometimes it's just to refine your character. I just know that I don't want to hold on or put my happiness and trust in possessions & people.

Job 1:20-21
20At this, Job got up and tore his robe and shaved his head.
Then he fell to the ground in worship
21 and said: “Naked I came from my mother’s womb, and naked I will depart.
The LORD gave and the LORD has taken away;
may the name of the LORD be praised.”

He cares for me, more than than the many sparrows...I'm so glad that through all of my experiences I know that God is there and will be there for me.

Luke 12:7
"But the very hairs of your head are all numbered.
DO not Fear therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows.

'cause I love you'

I LOVE the lyrics of this song (below) especially when it's sung by Johnny Cash! My love Jesse is the most amazing guy every, super smart, talented and witty! My Best BUD! heheheh I just had a burst of LOVE for my Husband today and wanted to share it with my friends also!! I guess I want everyone to appreciate their love as I do mine today! Valentines day 2.5 not on valentines day! ENJOY!

I’ll sweep out your chimney
yes and, I will bring you flowers
yes and, I will do for you
Most anything you want me to

If we live in a cottage
You will feel like it’s a castle
By the royal way you’re treated
And attention shown to you

I’ll be there beside you
If you need a cryin shoulder
Yes, and I’ll be there to listen
When you need to talk to me

When you wake up in the darkness
I will put my arms around you
And hold you till the mornin sun
Comes shinin’ through the trees

I’ll be right beside you
No matter where you travel
I’ll be there to cheer you
Till the sun comes shinin through

If we’re ever parted
I will keep the tie that binds us
And I’ll never let it break
’Cause I love you

I will bring you honey
From the bee tree in the meadow
And the first time there’s a rainbow
I’ll bring you a pot of gold

I’ll Pick up all your troubles
And I’ll throw ‘em in the river
Then I’ll bundle down beside you
And I’ll keep you from the cold

I’ll be right beside you
No matter where you travel
I’ll be there to cheer you
Till the sun comes shinin through

If we’re ever parted
I will keep the tie that binds us
And I’ll never let it break
’Cause I love you
